UPDATE 5/3/01 - Mental Health/Human Rights

(1) THIS WEEKEND -- A U.S. NATIONAL TV SHOW EXPLORES FORCED PSYCHIATRIC DRUGGING DEBATE

Support Coalition International activists were interviewed for a segment of the PBS TV show "Religion and Ethics Newsweekly."
The show is carried in most large U.S. cities. The subject is the debate
over involuntary psychiatric drugging. PBS shot footage at Support Coalition's strategy retreat at Highlander this March.

weekend in your city -- go to:

(2) WARNING: NEW NEUROLEPTIC DRUG MAY BECOME AVAILABLE AS LONG-ACTING INJECTABLE

Neuroleptics are the drugs most typically used during forced psychiatric drugging. To physically force and coerce the drug, injectable long-acting versions of some neuroleptics have been available for years. The newer varieties of neuroleptics are called "atypicals" and have been around for about a decade.
However, so far no "atypical" has been available as a
long-acting injectable.
That may change, as you can see from the _Boston Globe_ article
at the below link. Wall Street is watching closely because of the immense potential profits for psychiatric drug corporations from the long-acting injectable version of Risperdal that is now being tested:
