Introduction by Martin Rafferty, MFI Youth Outreach Coordinator:
As MindFreedom strides forward with its Youth Voices for Choices in
Mental Health Campaign some local youth leaders are standing up to take
leadership. Chrissy Peirsuol is just one of our youth who has stepped up
and now she is choosing to share her story in the mental health system
with you!
Chrissy is someone who hold her own opinion on medications. First
hand experience has shown her that some of her friends of felt that
psychiatric medications have helped. Yet she is discovering -- along with
the rest of public -- that much of the time these medications do horrible
wrong.
As a youth she herself was pressured and led by her support system to
take these powerful drugs, drugs that took away her ability to stay in
the sun longer then a few hours, drugs that changed her personality and
her life forever.
