ORGANISATION: Guides and Scouts of Capital district in Finland, Helsinki

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: One of the activities runned by the Children´s summer camp association in Kiljava scout camp centre which is about 50 km from Helsinki. There are several camps during the summer open to all children aged 7-12 years and volunteer will be a member of the staff. The planning of the project begins in already in April. The camp period begins in June and continues untill mid August. After the camp period the experiences can be used in district area in local scout troops and training courses.

TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: Volunteer will participate in planning and providing services of the adventure and other outdoor activities together with paid staff. The tasks of volunteer will provide learning possibilities for the children in these areas, especially in getting to know Finnish nature. After the camp period the volunteer will continue to work with these areas with the scouts in the district of Capital area and other youth organizations e.g. participating in the organization of various courses.

SUPPORT SYSTEM: A member of the staff in the camps will be a support person. A member of international affairs group in the district level will name another contact person.

ORGANISATION: Kemin kaupungin nuorisotoimi (Youth department of city of Kemi), Kemi

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: Project is to take part in the youth work in 1) youth clubs, 2) street work and work in the youth café and 3) multicultural work as well as different kinds of workshops: media, music, metal, wood, sewing etc., camps and happenings. Part of the work is to create with professional youth workers some new activities for disadvantaged youth.

TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: The volunteer will work with professional youth workers in different kind of workshops and camps organising events, concerts, activities according to hisor her skills.S/he will take part in street work and create a new model of integration to the immigrant people with some NGO's. If s/he has any skills and ideas to create new actions, they are very welcome.

SUPPORT SYSTEM: All necessary technical and personal support will be provided by the youth department. Maarit Pulkkinen, youth secretary, will be a supervisor and these are named a mentor and a group of young persons helping him/her to integrate into society. A Finnish language course for foreigners can be arranged through the city of Kemi. The staff have enough knowledge of English to manage everyday life.

ORGANISATION: Työväen Akatemia, Kauniainen

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: Getting to know Finnish nature and environment (the FHS has good possibilities and surroundings for this). Learning about Finnish culture (education on this in the FHS, other students, library, cultural activities). Getting to know Finnish activities and youth work (contact person in the youth department of Helsinki, participation in the activities of the student association). Taking part in the sport activities - good facilities in the FHS and the neighborhood. Close contact to Finnish 18-30 year olds from living with them in the FHS and taking part in activities. Participation in the projects of Työväen Sivistyslitto for unemployed young people.There is already a preliminary agreement on exchange with the HVHS Jägerei-Hustedt, Celle with whom they are starting a Socrates project (theme: Integration -kontra Nationalismus), also the youth department of Celle is participating in this exchange.

TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: Nature, environment, taking care of nature according to their interests. Culture, sports, youth work, unemployed: doing, participating following different aspects according to the volunteer's own interests.
