DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: children's garden
To encourage activities in the childrens garden and activity centre in the area. These are frequented by the second and third generation immigrant children.
TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: To support the activities carried out by the children in the childrens garden and activity centre; to organise alternative activities for the children; to participate in the activities and events realised by the different sub-groups of the association.
SUPPORT SYSTEM: The volunteer is under the supervision of the association. A member of the association has been delegated for the personnel assistance, whereas the association team is responsible for technical support. The association in conjunction with the German partner is offering lessons in Portuguese for the volunteer one month before his/her arrival in Portugal. These lessons will be continued during the first two weeks of their stay in Portugal.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: Targeted population : community in general and young drug addicts. The main objective is to promote the exchange of experiences between the youngsters from Tarouca and those from other countries who will take part in the project. This project has 2 sub-projects : the first one is centered on the protection of the environment, and the second one targets the decreasing of drug addiction in the community of Tarouca.
TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: For the first sub-project :
actions of sensibilisation in primary and secondary schools, or
in different institutions of the community (associations,
etc...), creation of materials to entail a change of attitude
towards nature, especially in the natural parks of the community
dynamisation of actions to prevent forest fires, and cleaning of
natural parks in the community.
Second sub-project : actions of sensibilisation and prevention of
drug addiction, in particular in collaboration with professionals
concerned by this problem (doctors, psychologists, responsible
people of the project "VIDA", etc...) ; dynamisation of
actions which contribute to the decreasing of the use of drugs in
the commune of Tarouca ; creation of materials linked to that
problem.
For both sub-projects, all the actions will take place mainly in
schools and in the different localities of the community.
SUPPORT SYSTEM:The support structure responsible for the technical, linguistic and personal integration of the volunteers will be made of members of the association and professionals who collaborate in this project. Some private and public institutions of the community could also collaborate.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: This project aims at promoting cultural and linguistic exchanges between the young volunteers, the children mentally handicapped or not from Quinta da Fonte and the young employees. The goals are : create a new dynamic as far as leisure and entertainment projects are concerned, set up new forms of cooperation.
TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: The volunteers will personally accompany groups of children and young people in their leisure-time activities at the Quinta da Fonte centre.
SUPPORT SYSTEM: The organisation will provide the supervision of the volunteers.
ORGANISATION: Associação Portuguesa de Paralesia Cerebral - Núcleo de Évora, ÉvorA
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT: The group responsible for this project would like to help children suffering from cerebral paralysis and also their families. In order to achieve this goal, the activities are aimed at the social and educational integration of these children, and in giving them support and encouragement during the activities.
TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: Daily assistance with the childrens activities and support for their parents. One of the volunteers will supervise the activities set up in the childrens garden. He/she will help in the teaching activities and the support of the children suffering from cerebral paralysis. The other volunteer will supervise the activities set up in the "Social integration farm". This volunteer will participate in the educational activities linked to the agricultural sector and the caring for livestock. He/she will also play a supporting role in all the activities that are linked to the setting up of this project.
SUPPORT SYSTEM: The support structure is assured by the head of the group, the members of the team and the families with whom the volunteers are staying. Two professionals from the group will be personally responsible for the volunteers supervision.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
Education and occupation of adolescents in leisure activities,
specially those in more danger. Struggle against social exclusion through
enterprising and accompanied activities. Popular sports, instrumental music (
guitar, piano, organ, drums), board games, snooker. Plastic arts - oil painting,
glazed tile and vitral, Arraiolos carpets, clayworks, ceramics, engraving/cutting.
Dramatic arts - Dance, theatre, body expression, declamation, rythmic and
Aerobic Gymnastics. Compensation classes and after school study halls.
Informatic classes - Portuguese language and culture. The target population
consists of children, pre-adolescents and youngsters from Vendas Novas city and
suburbs (neighbouring villages) in Alentejo: South Portugal.the project period
of duration will be 8 months since September. The volunteers are two Spannish
girls and one Italian, aged between 19 and 25 years of age. Project undertaken
by International Association VIDES (International Voluntary Service of Education
to Solidarity) in connection with other European countries, where it's
established and recognized juridically and in the form of partnership. support
and accompaniement provided by Daughters of Mary Helper (Salesian Sisters of
D.Bosco): Intends to provide to boys and girls an experience of free and happy
service (work) living in the community and enriched by an adequate training.
TASKS OF THE VOLUNTEER: Sports-Music-Plastic arts-Dramatic arts-
After school accompaniement-Informatics/Computing in favour of children,
adolescent and young ones from Alentejo. For them also: portuguese language and
culture.
SUPPORT SYSTEM: The national delegate and
the local delegate of the association VIDES will accompany the experience,
through the initiation in the proposed activities with the needing youngsters,
by frequent dialogue, personal interview and periodical evaluation.
