WORKCAMPS IN JORDAN
In 2008 OIKOS organises in collaboration with ICH (International Cultural House), a local non-profit organisation, several workcamps in Jordan.
The fee of participation (including the annual membership-card of OIKOS) is 100,00 Euro and has to be paid when applying for a camp.
The camp-fee (including board and lodging) is 200,00 Euro and has to be paid to the camp-coordinator on arrival in Jordan.
Workcamp Schedule
1st day: meeting day in Amman
2nd day: visiting down town of Amman, its Markets and Roman theater, which was built in the mid 2nd century AD. And watching the traditional Museum and the Folk One. After that the participants are going to run up to the Mount of Roman castle where is the Jordan Archaeological Museum.
3rd day: going to Jerash (columns city) in the north of Jordan, which includes numerous old Roman Theaters and Churches.
4th day: making some social activities.
5th day: visiting the lowest place on Earth (the Dead Sea)
6th day: Social activities.
7th day: going to Madaba City and visiting its markets and its museums that are Rich with famous fantastic mosaics. Then visiting Nebo mount where Moses was buried. There is also an old church was built 393.
8th day: visiting Ajlon Castle, which built 1184
9th day: Social activities.
10th day: visiting (Um Qays) most beautiful Roman City in Jordan, which locates Next to Lake Tiberias.
11th day: getting back to Amman to visit its modern and old markets .
12th day: Social activities.

Work: Volunteers are going to work for 4hours daily, 5 days per week to help in Some business such as painting arrangement inside Omar bin khatab orphans Society, And bin Rashid schools, organizing some social and cultural activities, and Meeting some Jordanian Families, Visit some Jordanian Cultural Clubs to Exchange Ideas about Peace in the world. One of the most important aims is to merge the Volunteers within the Jordanian society, in order to give a close picture to Jordan.
Location: Jabal Tareq / Zarqa Lying some 14 miles (23 km) northeast of Jordan's capital, Amman, al-Zarqa is Jordan's second-largest city (pop. 421,000 in 2002). The village witnessed tremendous growth beginning in the 1950s through the presence of a major military base, the development of industry and a free trade zone, and the in-flux of Palestinian refugees (who constitute some 60 to 70 percent of the population).Accommodation: In a house (sleeping bag needed)
Fee: 200,00 Euro will cover the costs of the accommodation and transportation During the camps period.Language: English
