WORKCAMPS IN UGANDA

In 2008 OIKOS organises in collaboration with THIVS (Touch-Humanity International Voluntary Services), a local non-profit organisation, several workcamps in Uganda.

The fee of participation (including the annual membership-card of OIKOS) is 100,00 Euro and has to be paid when applying for a camp. 
The camp-fee (including board and lodging) is 250,00 Euro and has to be paid to the camp-coordinator on arrival in Uganda.

Project: Canaan Children's Home is located at Buziika, in Jinja Uganda and caters for orphans and destitute children. The home composes of an informal vocational center, dormitories, administration block, kitchen, dining hall, recreation section, meeting room, reading rooms and a health clinic. It also runs some income generating projects and has sunk borehole to provide additional water.

The Bala Mercy Children’s Center and School idea is to care, educate and train the orphaned children through provision of life support mechanisms to gain knowledge and promote self-reliance skills. The international volunteer could consider giving time include in areas like child-care, teaching, medical care, hospice care sports, administration, technical areas (vocational) pastors conference, bible club, construction, animal husbandry and veterinary agriculture. The volunteer also provides warmth, love and security to children.

Work: Help in an orphanage assisting disadvantaged and orphaned children in the community. Teaching artistic lessons, music, providing health care, preparing meals, bedding, counseling, games, picnics and assisting with administration.

Location: Orphans Home, at Kampala region in Uganda, East Africa.

Accommodation: The volunteer resides at the Center or at founders home.
